It’s the holiday season and the merriment is contagious (: Even my school’s Journalism room is in spirit.

Happy Moon Day! Happy August 15th for those on the Lunar calendar!
It’s been a while since my last photo, schoolwork and water polo are catching up to me >.< . However, I decided to take the time and post this picture in celebration of the Moon Festival.
I will never forget the following passage from The Moon Lady by Amy Tan. It’s the best explanation I can think of for those who don’t really know about the Moon Festival .
“The Moon Lady! The Moon Lady!” I said, jumping up and down. And then I tugged on Amah’s sleeve and asked, “Who is the Moon Lady?”
“Lady Chang-o,” Amah answered. “She lives on the moon. Tonight is the only time you can see her and have a secret wish fulfilled.” I imagined a lady dressed in shadows, sitting on the moon, leaning over to find me.
“What is a secret wish?” I asked.
Amah told me, “It is what you want but cannot ask.”
“Why can’t I ask?”
And Amah had to think hard how to answer me. “If you ask, then it is not longer a secret wish but a selfish desire,” she said at last.
These LEDs decorated my backyard along with all the food and mooncakes. I’ve made my wish already, have you?
